Community involvement
Our school values strong partnerships with our families and community. Parents and carers can get involved through our Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) or by volunteering at our school. Your time and support help make our school a better place for everyone.
Parents and Citizens Association (P&C)
Our P&C is a group of parents, carers and school community members. They assist with school planning, fundraising, events and volunteering. Our P&C works in partnership with our school to promote the interests of our school community.
Joining the P&C a great way to meet other families, get involved and contribute to our school's future. We would love to have you on board!

Volunteer at our school
Participating in your child’s education is a great way to support their learning and connect with the local school community. The NSW Department of Education warmly encourages volunteers, and research shows that children gain significant benefits when their parents and carers are actively involved in school activities.
As a parent, carer, or close family member, you may regularly visit the school for drop-offs and pick-ups, parent-teacher meetings, school fairs, sports days, or performances. Depending on the purpose of your visit, the school may ask you to check in and complete a screening process with staff, especially for planned visits.
If you are a parent, carer, or close family volunteer and would like to receive a digital declaration, please contact our administration team.
Volunteer screening and requirements
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students, Crown Street Public School requires all volunteers to complete a screening process. This includes obtaining a NSW Working With Children Check (WWCC) clearance. Here is what to expect:
- Apply for a WWCC online through the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian and complete identity verification at Service NSW.
- Complete the school’s volunteer declaration form and provide photo identification to the school office.
- Attend a brief induction session, which covers school policies, child safety, and emergency procedures (if required).
- Submit all documentation to the school office for approval before you start volunteering.
Once cleared, you will be able to participate in various volunteer activities safely and confidently.
Volunteer opportunities include:
- Participating in the P&C
- Assisting with children’s reading in the classroom
- Supporting school events such as sports days and P&C activities
- Helping on school excursions
